"Love Me Tender" Starring Elvis Presley

Elvis has appeared in a variety of films. He had to serve military duty and after returning from this he starred in his first movie called “Love Me Tender”. The film is the story of the Reno brothers. Elvis Presley plays Clint Reno who does not go to war. His older brothers Vance (Richard Egan), Brett (William Campbell) and  Ray (James Drury) leave home to fight in the American Civil War. Another character in the movie is Cathy (Debra Paget), who was destined to marry the older Vance. 
 
Clint receives incorrect news that Vance has died in the battlefield, so Cathy later marries Clint instead. The film was made by Twenty Century Fox in 1956. The executive producer was David Weisbart and the screenplay was written by Robert Buckner. It is based on the original story by Maurice Geraghty.

There was no other landmark year in Elvis’ young life than 1956. It was the year ‘the boy who would be king’ launched himself into a tour of superstardom both onstage and on film. No other photographer captured this moment more candidly than Al Werthmeimer.

His photos have been on exhibition across the globe and have been part of the Smithsonian Institutes traveling  gallery.

"Jailhouse Rock" Starring Elvis Presley

Elvis starred in a number of movies, over 30 of them, during his lifetime. One film that was quite popular is “Jailhouse Rock”. It tells the story of the story of a young singer who is trying to make it big in Hollywood. Elvis co-stars with Judy Tyler and Mickey Shaughnessy. The film was made in Tennessee and released in October 1957. It was produced by Metro Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Richard Thorpe. 

Elvis is well known for his role in the movie “Jailhouse Rock”. He also sang a remake of the song with the same name. The original song was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The story behind the movie is that a young man called Vince Everett is sent to prison for manslaughter. While in jail, Micky Shaughnessy who plays Hunk Houghton teaches him about music and performing.

The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and Show

During Elvis Week (Jan. 6th-8th) the “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest” will be holding its World Series event at Surfer’s Paradise in Queensland Australia. The beach and foreshore will be inundated with white jumpsuits, gold-rimmed sunglasses, black leather, glittering gold dinner jackets and more hip swiveling than you can surf on a half-pipe.

Elvis: The Television Show

There have been a few television shows that have depicted the life of the king. However, the 1990 version that was played on ABC is quite notable.

It has 13 episodes filmed and detailed the life of Elvis before he became a rich and famous star. Even though the television station created 13 episodes, only 10 episodes were aired during the evening. The Elvis TV show was stopped and the remaining three episodes were play on alternate channels.

The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California will be hosting a special presentation for Elvis Week for the first time. The event will be on Wednesday January 4th, 2012.

Much is known about Elvis in his musical career and even his personal life, but not much is known regarding his acting life in Hollywood. Elvis began his acting career on the behest of his manager “the colonel”. When he agreed he test screened with a stringless guitar. Elvis said he just wanted to act, he didn’t want to sing in his movies, but after some encouragement from Colonel Parker, a singing movie star was born.

Is it possible to compare Elvis and the Beatles? Some people would argue that it would be like comparing two pieces fruit such as an apple and orange, with the only thing they have in common is that they are fruit. Even though the Beatles were the British 1970’s version of the boy band and Elvis was an American pop singer. These are two music icons that are both easily recognized. In terms of popularity they are both located with the top five of all musicians. However, the Beatles have longed held the number one spot.
 
Elvis had a voice that from an early age he was offered a music deal. The way he sang and dance made the fans so wild. He did not write all of his songs, but his version of the songs made them the most popular in the public’s opinion. The Beatles are known more for the lyrics to their songs. They did not have the antics that Elvis had onstage.
